Description
The lightning spell is extremely versatile, it can be used to surgically remove defenses. It is often used in conjunction with other spells, such as the Earthquake Spell to destroy Air Defenses. It can also reset the charge of a single target inferno tower.

Bases are built on a grid in Clash of Clans. If a square is being touched by the colored circle it will be hit by deployed spell. The lightning spell has a radius of two, if it is deployed in the middle of a square (most buildings are 3x3, so in the middle of a normal building) it will hit a 5x5 square with the corners cut off. You can move around the X and Y location to find the optimal location to drop a spell. The radius is also adjustable to allow to figure out the margin of error when planning out spell deployment. It looks possible to hit a 5x5 square with just 2 of the 4 corners cut off, for example (X,Y) of (0.2,0.5). I wouldn't recommend relying on hitting such a small spot on a square but it is interesting to note. Another observation how you can hit only a 4x4 square if you happen to deploy the lightning spell directly on a cross intersection, such as (X,Y) of (0,0).
